There are three classes in the Viking society, Jarls, Karls and Thralls.
Jarls – were noblemen who had lots
of land and servants. They were the highest class.
Karls – were the freemen who were farmers, craftsmen, land owners and warriors. Thralls – were the slaves owned by the rich Jarls. They did the dirty work and usually lived at the end of the landowners’ gardens. They were usually captured on raids. They were the lowest class.
